The second exhibition will focus on the events in the field of technical design in Zlín (Gottwaldov) and its wider surroundings. Its beginning is connected with the beginning of teaching the shaping of machines and tools in Zlín at the university level in 1959. The end represents the division of Czechoslovakia and the demise of existing social and economic structures associated with the disintegration of the institutional framework of Czechoslovak design. The dominant personalities of the observed period are especially teachers and designers Zdeněk Kovář and František Crhák, who with their works co-created the distinctive face of not only Zlín, but also Czechoslovak design.
As in the first part of the exhibition, the history of Zlín’s industrial design will also be presented through new technologies. It will include a special application, thanks to which visitors will be guided through the exhibition by a virtual curator and will have the opportunity to talk to the AR “hologram” of designer František Crhák.

📅 The guided tour on Wednesday 8 December at 5 pm starts at the Regional Gallery and continues with a vernissage at the G18 Gallery.

The exhibition is part of an extensive project of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of TBU in Zlín and the National Technical Museum, mapping design in technical disciplines during the existence of Czechoslovakia and is implemented with financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. The exhibition is under the patronage of Zuzana Fišerová, Councilor of the Zlín Region for Culture and Education.
