Shared Imagination

26. 5. 2019

We cordially invite you to visit the 16th National Exhibition of Art Works of Children and Youth, which takes place as part of the 59th Zlin Film Festival!

The exhibition of children and young people’s artwork on the theme of SHARED IMAGINATION, organised by NIPOS, will be on display from 25 May to 7 June 2019 in the G18 Gallery.

The collections of submitted and exhibited works accentuate the depth of the exploration of the theme in all stages of the creative process and in the broader context of disciplinary overlaps and chosen media. The exhibition maps the projects of art teachers from all types of school and out-of-school institutions from all over the Czech Republic. The show does not have the character of a competition, but promotes such methods of creative work that allow to use the language of contemporary visual art and to approach the creative process as a whole.

Imagination is a person’s ability to conjure up images or pictures in the mind. It includes memories, daydreams, fantasy and dreams, and enhances experiences.
It is an important source of knowledge, a source of scientific and artistic inspiration, and an essential part of human life. It is also the primary recipient of our immediate observations of the world around us – for what we understand as the imprint of reality is shaped by the human imagination.
Images are not expressions of reality, but expressions and formations of imaginative ideas coming from our interactions with the world. For each of us, these imaginings are unique and irreplaceable. Thus, images also help in cooperating and coordinating our imaginations with those of others, making individual imaginations jointly operative.
It is therefore important for everyone to master such ways of visual creation that they can make their own imagery applicable to others.

NIPOS-ARTAMA appointed a team of curators consisting of art theorists, didacticians and active visual artists to evaluate all submitted projects. The analysis seminar (which will take place at the opening of the 59th Zlin Film Festival and will include the opening of the exhibition) will reflect on the show in the form of a public discussion and inspirational workshops. The curatorial team selected 100 projects of children’s work, through which the approach of individual teachers is evaluated and appreciated.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday 25 May 2019 at 11:00 AM.

Opening hours of the exhibition: 25 May – 7 June 2019, daily 8:00 – 18:00.
