G18 Program | February 2024
The new month brings with it a new programme of the G18 Gallery. February will be in the spirit of cinema. What have we prepared for you?
1. 2. – Exhibition Best of Art Colony Cered
The last day of the Best of Art Colony Cered exhibition, which presents a selection of the best works of the Hungarian art colony Art Colony Cered. The exhibition showcases a curated selection of the best sculptures, installations, prints, textiles and photographs from the recent themed summer symposia that take place annually in the Hungarian village of Cered.
12. 2. – 16. 2. Jaroslav Kučera’s Camera Cycle
The G18 Gallery in cooperation with Kino Napajedla has prepared a retrospective of the film work of the prominent cinematographer Jaroslav Kučera. It will present three key films that bear the unmistakable handwriting of Kučera’s camerawork.
12. 2., 19:00 Diamonds of the Night – The story of the escape of two Jewish youths from a death transport is a naturalistic exploration of feelings of threat, rejection and uprootedness.
14. 2., 19:00 Daisies – Where they go, they provoke. Vera Chytilova’s famous film about two Marias and the vicious circle of pseudo-values and pseudo-relations.
16. 2., 19:00 Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet – An excellent parody of director Oldřich Lipský’s rhodocapsu stories of intrepid heroes.
Admission to individual screenings – 70 Kč
Discounted admission for the whole cycle – 150 Kč
Tickets can be purchased on the Kino Napajedla website.
All screenings take place at Kino Napajedla (Na Kapli 459, 763 61 Napajedla). Are you coming from Zlín? We recommend taking the bus at 18:10 from the bus station.
19. 2., 18:00 Opening of the exhibition Jaroslav Kučera Laboratory
20. 2. – 18. 4. Exhibition Jaroslav Kučera Laboratory
The exhibition Jaroslav Kučera Laboratory will take you into the world of Czechoslovak cinematography in the 1960s and beyond, and will show the work of the cameraman as creative and artistic in the form of an experimental laboratory. At the centre of the exhibition is the work of Jaroslav Kučera, who is inherently one of the most important creators of Czechoslovak cinema. He is known as a progressive cinematographer who has defined the visual form of a number of Czech films (including “Diamonds of the Night,” “Daisies,” “Fruit of Paradise Trees,” “All the Good Fellows,” and “Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet“). Admission to the exhibition is free for all and can be visited during normal opening hours, Monday to Thursday, 1-6 PM.
