Program | March 2024

4. 3. 2024

Just like February, we are staying true to film in March. What program have we prepared for you in March?

20 February – 18 April 2024 Jaroslav Kučera Laboratory exhibition
The Jaroslav Kučera Laboratory exhibition will take you into the world of Czechoslovak cinematography and will showcase the work of a cameraman as creative and artistic, in the form of an experimental laboratory. The centerpiece of the entire exhibition is the work of Jaroslav Kučera, who is inherently one of the most significant creators of Czechoslovak cinematography. He is known as a progressive cinematographer who defined the visual style of many Czech films (including “Diamonds of the Night,” “Daisies,” “Fruit of Paradise Trees,” “All the Good Fellows,” and “Adéla Hasn’t Had Dinner Yet”). Admission to the exhibition is free for everyone and it can be visited during regular opening hours from Monday to Thursday, 1-6 p.m.

March 14, 5 pm Film screening with debate: After the Silence Was Broken
The screening of the film “After Breaking the Silence,” will be followed by a discussion with the film director, Mikoláš Arsenjev, and other guests. The film is 50 minutes long and will be shown in Czech with English subtitles. Admission is voluntary.

About the film:
Is there a safe way for students to speak up if they become victims of sexual harassment or abuse of power on university grounds? What paths need to be established to address such issues discreetly yet effectively within the school system? How were the first student initiatives formed and what experiences can they pass on?
